Our Community
Nearly one million Washingtonians are immigrants. Immigrants and refugees are an integral part of our communities and add to the growing diversity of Washington state and its workforce with new businesses, restaurants and innovations. As a vital part of our state’s culture and economy and as human beings with certain inalienable rights, these individuals deserve to be protected and treated with dignity.
Despite this, the current administration has enacted policies, such as the public charge rule, that threaten these essential members of our community by increasing racial profiling, creating fear amongst migrant communities, and undermining the trust between healthcare providers and the communities they serve. This is not just a threat to the public health and herd immunity but is also detrimental to the wellbeing of all Washingtonians.
